Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry usually refers to the restoration of tooth with fillings. We have 2 materials we usually use for filling:
1. Dental resin composite: These are tooth-colored filling materials that is used to restore decayed tooth. Composites are used also to cover discolored and reshape deformed tooth. This type of fillings could last for many years but there is also a tendency of discoloration and needs to be replaced again.
2. Ionomers: Another tooth-colored restorative materials. Glass ionomer (GI) filling is weak that is why it's usually used for primary teeth and tooth decay that extends below the gum (non-biting surfaces).
